RE: gears: how much of a difference?
i have 3.73 in my auto, im happy with them, i couldent tell you my rpm-mph because i dont have the rite speedo gear. i only run around town, and that is it, i might get 4.10 but we will see after i put my 5 spd in

RE: gears: how much of a difference?
since u already have 3.73, what u can do to see how u like 3.55s, is find a set of 27inch tall tires and put them on. i did some calculations and the 27 will make ur car run just like it would if u had 3.55s. And they will fit, i use 27x10 slicks for road racing on my car and its lowered, and no rolled fenders

in the 3:73's, i turn about 2500-3k doin about 75, im happy w/them but getting up towards 100mph it starts to get up towards 4500. i guess not made for top end obviously.
so if I were to get 3:27's or 3:55's, would i lose low end torque?or would it matter much?

Man you guys are wimps, I had 3.55 they were about the same on gas mileage I get 16 city, then got 4.10's and still got 16MPG. They are perfect for Daily drivers. I drove my 5-speed manual with 4.10's for about a year....I have no complaints with that gearing. I love the acceleration they provide. They are IMO they are the perfect street/strip gear.I love 4.10's they are amazing

long time ago, but oh well. yeah in 5th gear! I went on interstate 540 with a few friends driving camaro's and trans-am's doing around 100 mph and I was already at 4500rpm's. not too concerned about the gears, just wondering how the rest stacked up.

RE: gears: how much of a difference?
I have 4.10's and a 5 speed and I think they're a little too short for me. If I change them again, I might do 3.73's, or maybe even 3.90's. The thing I hate most is on the freeway. So, around town is great, but freeway driving sucks. My commute is 30 miles to work, 30 miles back, all freeway. But my mustang has a blown headgasket right now, so I can't drive it anyway...[sm=boohoo.gif]

RE: gears: how much of a difference?
I have 4.10 gears in my 94 GT and i turn 3k at 60mph and get about 20 miles per gallon on the highway. My car is a manual and I love the torque from the gears. The gears are fun but can leave you hanging. I can drive in 5th at 40mph. Oh I almost forgot my tranny is rebuilt with a closer ratio so that might change things up. As far as racing most mustangs around here are running 3.55 or 3.73 gears. This puts me shifting a lot sunner than thim.In my 87 I can finish a race before i get to 3rd gear. In my 94 I'm usually in 3rd or 4th. I hate this and plan to go to 3.73 gears.
