I have a 91 GT 5spd with 4.10's and they were cool when I first got them, but after the heads and cam and things, they are just too tall of a gear, 3k at about 80mph, and that's about what I drive on the freeway so a gear swap is a must.. I am backing down to 3.55's but I am also building a 331 stroker right now for it so that will make up for it

man someones are running the wrong tire size here. my car stock geard AOD with 410s and nonlock up converter i was seeing 2700 rpms at 70 mph in OD on the stock tach with 26' tires.

and 28' tall tires will fit most stangs

i had 4.10s before and switched because i blew them out but i LOVED my 4.10s, they had SOO much torque i plan on switching back ASAP, i had to switch to 2.73s because i bought a stock rear-end for right now, but i also drive the car only once in a while, its mostly a weekend race car, but with the 2.73s in you dont get torque worth a damn, if your looking for very good torque go with 4.10s, if you drive slow more than you race or step on it then dont go with 4.10s they are just too much for a drive around town car.

you dont gain torque with gears. you only see torque mulitpication [sp]. just remember stock motors like 410s but modded motors dont always like them. when you mod you may run out of tire, this is why you need a taller tire
