Default Correct distributor

Hey guys,
I just picked up my third fox after losing my direction for a couple years working on z28's. I have since repented....
My question is,I have this 88 lx hatchback which I am pretty sure it used to be a 4cyl car judging by the trim level and features I remember from my last 4cyl swap.Anyways it has a carb'd motor with a healthy cam, headers, high rise intake, stock heads with an MSD blaster coil, and control box. My question is it seems a little sluggish on take off than I think it should but it'll scoot once you get her wound up. I noticed it has the same electronic distributor as the one on my F150. Should I be running this one since it dosen't have a vacuum advance which I think is part of my problem? It is slow to turn over after shutting it down too whichalso acts like timing since the alt puts out 13.8 volts at idle.Any help would be most appreciated!

To my knowledge thats the wrong dizzy. I had the same problem this past week and went on a major hunt for an 85 dizzy (manual 4bb) and it was no fun. If you go to Autozone or advance they will pull up part# 30-2831. Let me inform you a head of time that dizzy will work IF you can get them to locate you the right cap for it (which happens to be from a 77 ltd 5.0 carb). Save your self a big headache and get an MSD dizzy. One question though, did you try hitting your rev limiter? Was it some where around 52-5400? Thats where mine was till I put the MSD control box, coil and dizzy on. Now it runs fine.

Wow thanks for the info guys. Today after doing the plugs I noticed the old ones were actually wet on number 8 and 7 and were really fouled. It runs better with the new ones but she won't rev past 4grand,and it does have the TFI module on the side of the distributor. It has MSD everything except the distributor I guess. I've never had an MSD box so I really have no clue what I'm looking at to adjust anything.I'm trying to find a manual on the web but no luck so far. Thanks for all the great info MRPHILKAT!

Your right about the NOS. As far as the MSD dizzy check out part # 8479. Better yet here you go.....http://www.msdignition.com/appguidedomestic.aspx When the page come up type in year 1980 and then you know the rest. It will show the entire set up like you need/have now minus the dizzy.

That will get you were you need to be bro. Anytime!
