Hook a voltmeter to the fuel pump leads and while its running, have someone apply the brakes. If you see a drop in voltage, the brake lights are causing the change in pump sound. I have a 95 amp alternator on mine, and every time my Mark VIII fan comes on, the pump changes tone.
Mine is a new Holley 140 gph black pump. I was going to put a small led to show when the fan kicked on, but no need to.

just because the pump whines doesn't mean its bad or going bad. a fuel pump is one of those things that either works or it dont.

I don't know where you got that info from but a pump can go out all of a sudden OR it will give you a warning"hence loud pump" so please don't pollute this thread with wrong information and im so tired of people trying to prove me wrong,i have been around these car's a long time and have learned my far share of things from experinece not reading or hearing about it.

lol i dont know if you read the one post i put on here before. mine is acting funny like jerking around at about 40 - 45 mph when the engine is cold. i get it up to speed and let of the gas and it jerks. kinda like it is quick shifting between 2nd and 3rd but it is not cuz the rpms stay the same. what do you think it could be?
