Default Some small 5.0 problems

Well, first things first. My speedometer jumps as I start to drive. It'll just keep jumping back and forth and doesn't tell me the speed at all. How do I go about fixing this. It's a 140mph speedometer. And I was wondering if there's a gauge higher than the 140mph one. O.o

Also, I wanted to know if anyone has tried the digital cluster for foxes that summitracing has here http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NRD-DP5302-B/
I was thinking about possibly getting that if there's nothing higher than 140mph.

Also how do I get my fuel gauge to work? I drive quite a bit and sometimes my gas consumption is sporadic so relying on my trip meter isn't working out. The fuel needle is usually off the gauge but sometimes it'll come to read half or full or in between. How do I go about fixin gthis?

And last but not least, whenever I run the AC in my Mustang the car slowly but surely starts to overheat. I don't understand why. I have an electric fan and was wondering if it should be on constantly with the AC on. How do I go about fixing this? Do I need a new fan controller? I have a Flexilite fan and 160 t-stat.

you can try to lube the cable but if that doesn't work most likely the head unit is bad

your gas gauge prob might be your sending unit if your needle stays past the full mark.

Well, tried to put the cable into the speedometer and there seems to be something that's broken so it is the head unit. Where's the cheapest place to get a new one?

And as for the sending unit, I guess I'll swap that out and report back.

I put a fuel sender in my tank ($160.) from the dealer. Mine had stopped working,, the new sender reads above full when I fill it up, And seems to be close to empty when on E,,

So it's pretty accurate. I'm sure I can find cheaper sending units, correct?

Post Digital Gauges from Summit Racing

I have those exact gauges in my 91 notch & I used them because I wanted to be different. there is a difference in the years as they have (2) options 87-89 & 90-93. installation was a pain because you have to use your old housing so getting them set in there straight,. I'm not sure if I would do it again but they do look nice. I put a 2 gauge pillar pod in with digital A/F & Vacuum gauges so everything is digital. if you want, send me your email address & I will get you some pics of it when I get back in town. I could get them to you by tomorrow night.
+1 on the speedo cable & the fuel gauge sender , it's probably corroded especially if it sat for a while with a empty or near empty tank.
P.S. let me know if you want some pics of the gauges.
