Default First 5.0 Engine dropin HELP

Hey, I just dropped my first 5.0, I have rough tuned the timing because my friends timing light wasn't working, the car needs to be started a couple times for the engine to warm up before holding a 800-900 rpm idle, i just drove the car around the block, and the car stops accelerating when you give it more than a normal amount of throttle. and when i stepped out of the car my cats were smoking tons of white smoke from the right side, it didn’t smell, just smoke(the car has been sitting for about 2 years)..I was wondering if most of these problems can be attributed to the timing, and if not what suggestions you guys have...I’m trying to get it drivable by the end of the summer...thanks for your help

first thing to do is set the timing, then perform a base idle reset

Get the engine to operating temp. If it's an automatic put it in gear, standard neutral. Turn on your headlights, all other accessories off. Start the engine and disconnect the IAC. If it won't run with the IAC disconnected, open the throttle body with the stop screw a bunch until it does. Once you get it running with the IAC disconnected, use the throttle stop screw to set your idle at your desired RPM (usually 700-800, more if it's cammed up). After you have your desired idle, plug the IAC back in.
