Default hey im new here and i need some help

okay so i have a 1974 mustang2 and im about to put a 302 in it. but im not sure how to build it i want a street and stirp car. and im on a budget can anyone help?

yes i have ford 302 with stock heads but im going to keep the heads to save money

the stock heads are going to limit you. you could have them ported for more perforomance or start looking on craiglist and ebay for parts. i saw a cobra intake on ebay yesterday for something like $70. you can always find some cheaper parts there.

yeah if your going through all that trouble, you might as well change the heads since they suck bad.

the plan was to get them ported and put new roller rockers on them

I'd probably go for some gt40 heads from the junkyard if you want to go cheap.

Why bother putting a 302 in it? Why not just put a 351 in it? Then you could get away with hardly doing anything to it to make the same power as you'll make with the 302 with heads and any other garbage. Cost for you would be the same for a 351 as it would for a 302, and you start with a better engine and more power. Then anything you do to it will have that much greater of an effect. The parts all interchange between the two, except the intake, which is super easy to get a hold of for a 351 with a carb. So basically, the cost will be the same in the end, and you have a bigger, tougher more powerful engine. That's my 2 cents.

A windsor will not fit without major reconstruction of the front end.It is to wide.
