Default Clutch

Are there any way to tell if your clutch is goin without lookin at it? Cuz i think my clutch is goin it seems like i have to rev it higher to get up speed. And it also has a squeeking noise when im idling in nuetral but if i push down the clutch the sqeek stops. Do you think my clutch is goin? Im not sure if its original or not but my car has 98,000 original miles. any help is appreciated

The squeak is from a worn out throw out bearing, and if your clutch was slipping you would know it, but just try this and you will know for sure put the car in 5th at a low rpm's and floor it for a little bit,if you hear the rev's increase all of a sudden and car stops pulling then it is time for a new clutch.

my '94 had a terrible squeal at 77k miles, just touch the clutch pedal and squeal stopped

throw out bearing shaft, galled all to hell

original oem shaft was aluminum

bought a new steel shaft one from summit, failed within a week, seperated from the base plate, summit said they never had a problem with the one they sell, went with ford oem replacement, ford upgraded their shaft to steel also.

no problem ever since

worst thing is the labor, funny how you get quicker the second time around???!!!

my clutch was not slipping but if you got the tranny out might as well... you'll do it sooner or later

best of luck

yep you will have to replace the throwout bearing and you will have to pull the tranny to do so too also when you pull the tranny you can check the clutch to see if it needs to be replaced

thats what i thought. i think im just gonna buy a king cobra clutch kit and have it put, it comes wit a new throwout bearing. Is a king cobra clutch a good clutch for a daily driver and occasionally race at the track?
