From what I have been told, a mid-80s Crown Vic WP is standard rotation, like you need, but is made for a reverse rotation timing cover (like your car has stock). Some people run just any old standard rotation pump and don't have cooling issues, while others do because of timing cover differences. The Autozone # is CWP-641. Its $51 here, and should work, from what I have been told. I bought one a few days ago and will be putting it on later so Ill let you know if it works. Hope this was some help. Good luck

Why do you want the flow to go backwards?

X2 Why would relocating the alt down there call for a reverse pump.Mine hangs down there under the Vortech. No water pump change was needed.

Because the belt is wrapping around the WP pulley different than stock, causing it to spin the other way. The belt is now going over the top of the WP from the alternator. Like these: http://forums.corral.net/forums/show...rnator+bracket

I had to modify the pulley to make it work and my stock WP pulley bolts wouldnt thread into the new pump..both minor things but just a heads-up. Good luck!!

I realized that stock bolts will work, the threads on mine were just too damaged to thread into the new pump. Sorry for the bad info.

Just make sure when you put the new water pump on that the gasket holes line up correctly with everything. I tossed a new pump on one years ago and the new pump had two gaskets. When I filled the car up it was an instant water fall.I used the wrong gasket.
