It has Edelbrock upper and lower intake, FMS Aluminum Heads, trick flow stage 1 cam, FMS roller rockers, it was rebuilt about 3,000 miles and and bored. .30 over with speed pro parts. 70 mm Throttle body, bbk cold air intake, bbk, headers, and high flow cats.

I thought 20 btdc was too high too, but it was running great, with no detenation. That is what the previous owner had it set at. You think I should set it lower?

 

Have you took it to the track to see where the timing makes the quickest pass?

 

i'm thinking your cam is degreed, which would explain why setting timing near stock makes it run ****ty.
20 degrees is alotttt of timing, it shouldn't be running good at that setting on pump gas.

 

Yeah, you might be right.... thats one bad thing about buying a car that has already been upgraded. YOu don't exactly know what has already been done unless you tear it down figure it out.
