New to the game
Got me a 93 Lx Hatch a couple months ago. Its a 4 banger 5spd car, a little over 430,000miles and still runs like new. never been abused, it was a pink breast cancer car. A kid bought it from the original owner and spray painted it white.....its peeling off and the pink is starting to come back through..ha.
Its my daily driver, actually the only car i have right now.
It gets the job done, i broke the 2 inch litle clutch cable 2 days ago, couldnt find it anywhere locally so i had to get it online for $7.00. Other than that iv had no problems.
When i get the wife a car in December is when the fun is going to start.
Im new to v8's but not to cars tho, iv built several 240's fom the ground up. My last car was a 89 hatch that was dynod at 400 to the rear wheels. No one ever labled me as "ricer" tho my cars were always nice and simple with alot of go.
But for personal reasons i wanted to get a mustang.
I want this to be a very streetable car, i want to go carb, nice heads and a decent cam. i want it to be simple but with plenty of go at the same time.
Im hopeing for the cost to stay somewhat down, as im either going to buy an old engine and tranny form craigslist or the salvage yard and rebuild it from scratch.
Inside and out im gona keep simple too, Flat black paintjob, stock body, clear smoked lights. Nice black wheels, i want to stay 4 lug so when i want to go play i can just thow the stock wheels on.And probly gona run dumps or a side exit exhaust so i dont have to mes with the brakes or fuel lines.
Any suggestions or advice? Or what kinda money im lookin at?
Nissans were very expensive to build up so im hopeing that this isnt going t be as bad.
thanks

thats a pretty large range there. a 302 will do 300rwhp with the right parts. if you want 400hp your going to need a larger motor or a power adder

with stock parts yuor still gonna be far from the goal, you'll need a good after market intake such as a victor jr and start with at least a 185-195 aluminum head and possibly a 205 head and have a decent custom cam matched to the parts choice and a 750-850 carb to feed it and tune it accordingly.......have all supporting mods and 400 should be easy...either way HP isn't cheap and reliable

You can get a cheap 302 and build it up with cheap GT-40 heads, Intake manifold and a mild cam, like a Trickflow Stg-1. Add a used Paxton or Vortech, plus the supporting fuel and say "hello" to 420+rwhp. But this is go EFI, instead of carb.
