Or get a stock box and run a K&N like me

I tried a open air filter like you, but I found the hot air to be distracting to the performance of the car, ie the car ran better w what I have now, stock a ir box and K&N.

I love how they call them cold air intakes when they take up warmer air than the fenderwell. Marketing FTW.

When we were running the Factory Stock car, we tried a ton of intake set ups. The one that worked best a 4 inch 90* bend off the the TB to a straight section of pipe, then the MAF with round, open filter. The filter actually ends up being right above the driver valve cover. Speculate all you guys want about how the hot air hurts performnace, but I have seen first hand on a dyno how the set up I described picks up both power and TQ. The hot air has little to do with things, it is about air flow and keeping as direct a path of air flow into the engine as possible. Fender mounts have too many turns in them.

JD1969 has a point, look at carb cars
However they do work better with a functional hood scoop

How about the old mac kit that forced air from under the bumper?
I saw one of those go on e-bay used for like 20 bucks a while back

I recently put a new ebay cai on mine that goes into the fenderwell works great I'd say it works better than the one I had before that went over the valve cover, and I got it for $48 dollars shipped!

I guess the butt dyno means more than a real dyno.
