Default check engine light

have a check engine light coming on (sometimes) about 15min into driving it. i took it on a few long trips and havent noticed anything wrong when driving it. it seems to come on when im at a half tank of gas. i heard that i could run lean at half tank if u got advanced timing. true? or is it my o2 sensores? id turn off the car and start it back up and no light for a while.

whatever the problem is, it's correcting itself but will cause a problem in the near future, next time the light comes on goto autozone and have them read the code.

Check for codes, it's relatively simple to do.

I don't know about the running lean with a half tank of gas but, some fuel pumps going bad won't start when the gas gets below half a tank. Usually the car can be started when beating on the tank with something or loosening the gas cap.

Fuel pumps would last longer if everyone filled their cars before the gas hand got to low. The gas cools the pump.

An o2 sensor would defiantly throw an engine light. I'd have the code checked out.

If you do replace the sensors use a little anti seize on the threads. It'll make life allot easier next time around,if you ever have to replace them again.

Some sensors already come with anti seize on them.

Run the DIY KOEO self test, whatever failure code that caused the system to turn the MIL on, should be stored as a memory code.

Regarding the half tank of fuel + advance timing = lean...... =
