You can always remove the spare tire. My car doesn't even have a jack so there's no need for a spare in my car.

Dont know how much youll really get...There was this test that some forum did about 5 years ago. They took like a new 2001 I dont know we will call it a Eclipse...Anyways they took it down the 1/4 mile track came back yanked the interior out then ran it again...Long story short they ended up cutting everything off it so it was unidentifiable and it still only shaved like a second off the 1/4 mile time...There was like a half a car left everything was cut.So Im not to sure about removing too many items especially safety......Man I wish I could still find that site...Funny looking....

How exactly do you get rid of the rear seat? I've been wanting to do it for a while but not sure how, is it a difficult job or what?

Very easy. The seat itself is just hooked on the bottom. You need to kneel on the back of the seat and at the same time pull up the front. the seatback is just bolted in. One bolt on either side and a series of sheetmetal screws in the hatch area.
