Default Cam recommendation??

Ok, I need recommendations on Cams. I have a 89 GT with a Performer RPM II, 1.6 rollers, Trick Flow Alumnium Heads(stock, no porting or anything) 70mm Throttle Body, it has a tremec tranny, w/3.73 gears, full flowmaster exhaust with bbk shorties. Right now it has off road H-pipe but I am going to put some high flow cats on it since i have to pass the sniffer.

I want a cam with a mean idle and something that will pull from 1500-6500 since my manifold is set up for that rpm range. I also still have the stock injectors and mass air with a k&n cone attached. Should I bump up to 24lb injectors with this combo??

I havent installed the heads yet, just ordered them. Just kind of wondering what everyone is running and how it sounds at idle and how it pull through the rpm range. Whatever I do it needs to pass emissions so I cant go to radical. We have to pass the sniffer and visual here in St. Louis and I still want to drive the car on the street.

Thanks..brian

With them mods i would stay away from the alphabetical cam's,maybe even look into a custom grind setup just for your mods.

like stangpower said a custom cam will give you the most power and drivability.

go with 24 lb injectors. do you have an upgraded fuel pump?

now that we know you have nitrous i definetly recommend a custom cam.

for your fuel system i would do 30 lb injectors, 255 lph fuel pump and a custom tune with a flip switch.

do you have an aftermarket igniton box with which you can set the rev limiter? you do not want to hit the stock rev limiter with nitrous. the stock limiter cuts fuel at 6250 rpms. you'd see an extreme lean condition followed by a boom.[8D]

no boom just a thud

yea youll want acam thathas more exhaust lift/duration then the intake side. also with getting acam to match that intake you will lose alot of street ablitity. youre intake isnt a street friendly intake. you can use it but chances are you would see better results from a street intake instead of a track intake. unless this is a track carthen youll be fine. with juice go 30#s. also with that kind or rpm range youll need gears to help make up that lose of power downlow. if you have an auto you will need a stall. if you have a stick you may have some issues with pulling away from stops

http://www.compcams.com and get their custom grind cam, make sure you list all of the mods you're going to have in the car and any mods you know you're going to have soon.
