taking apart a starter
so basically my starter went out. i teach myself as i go so im gunna try and explain this the best i can. if yall need clarification on something just let me know
ive got a high torque starter from jegs. right now when the sylanoid kicks out that little gear at the end it doesnt pop back in. i had it tested at o'reillys and we were able to get the starter to spin and kick out but you had to push the gear back in manually, but the machine said everything else should be fine
now i dont really have the money to buy a new starter, and if possible id like to just try and take this one apart and fix it. the guy said a spring that pulled the gear back in may be worn out or something.
has anyone tried to do this/does anyone have any advice for me? i figure worst case scenario is ill have to just buy a new starter so theres no sense in not at least trying to fix this one
