Need advice oil on spark plug #8
i been having misfire problem for a while, so today i checked every spark plug. Number 8 spark plug found wet with oil and carbon build up. I had my heads rebuild not too long ago. The valve seals are brand new. My only guess now is piston oil ring worn out in that cylinder.
My question is if i do a compression test would it reveal and confirm my worn out piston ring? What other things can i do to maybe fix this problem with out rebuilding it, i wont be able to take the bottom end apart for a while. is there a quick fix untill i can get to it? Im already running 15w/40 diesel oil. i have about 300K miles on the bottom end.

Alright ill give the leak down test a try. Im pretty sure that cylinder is done. Wish i could keep driving it for little while longer.
Is it possible to remove the piston from the bottom with the engine still inside?

you can put a plug fouler on it they use to make them it was a small insert that screws on the end of the plug and into the head to help shield the plug and moved it farther away. it may work may not or run some stop smoke or STP also helps but you will need to keep putting it in. You could also move up to a hotter plug on that cly. (one step). No you cant put a piston with the engine in the car from the underside

Alright thanks for the info, after i get the leak down test done, i might get some sort of additive for the time being. I been also playing with the idea maybe the shop that rebuilt my head messed up the valve seals while installing it. I'll have to take it off and double check.
