Default 93 Cobra brake booster install help

Can anyone give me some advise on installing the 93 Cobra booster in a 92 coupe, I hear its a major pain in the butt. Some say you need to beat on the shock tower for room, others say you only need to enlarge the mounting holes, and some say you need to do both... Anyone know the real way? thanks

You shouldn't have to do any real modifications. I know when you go up to the hydroboost system you have to elongate one of the holes.

I just help a friend with his 92 GT do the M2300K install, which uses the 93 Cobra brake booster, and we ended up denting the backside of the strut tower to get it to fit.
When you try to put the brake booster studs through the firewall holes at an angle it hits the plastic piece and stops.

I have read about other option though (listed below).

(1) Remove/loosen Pedal box, insert booster, reinstall pedal box.

(2) Slightly denting (massaging) the backside of the strut tower.

(3) Take drill/Dremel and slot plastic piece from engine bay side. It is apparent which way you need to remove material from.

(4) Cut the studs down a little bit on the brake booster.

(5) Take the closed end of a wrench, say.... 1/2" wrench, and place it over a stud on the booster. If you hold the booster as if it were mounted to the firewall, you would want to bend the 4 studs gently and slightly to the left. By doing this it will allow you to slip the booster into the firewall without elongating any holes.

I went to the 93 Cobra rear disc brake setup and a 93 Cobra master cylinder, from what I've read, if you don't upgrade to the Cobra booster your brakes won't work at their best, hard pedal etc......

Thank you for the detailed info, I was wondering how the Ford dealer replaced them on a 93 Cobra, seams that the shock towers would be the same, I wonder if they beat and elongated....

I cut studs and abused my shock tower on the 2300K cobra R kit.
