Default heatsoaked fuel pump?

Symptoms : When hot and at idle, the car will begin to slowly drop its RPMs. I have to rev it passed 1.5k to keep it alive. If left at idle, the car will slowly but surely die out. Sometimes even going from a dead stop to a few MPH, the car will hesitate, sputter and buck until it catches after a decent RPM speed.

What's driving me nuts is not knowing what the problem is, but i think im narrowing it down to fuel related. I have new ignition components : new module, ignition coil and stator.

None of these symptoms occur when it's not at normal operating temperatures.

I let the car idle and die. I pressed down the schrader valve to find that the stream of fuel wasn't all that impressive. (i dont know how reliable of a test this is)

last question. Is there an after market fuel pressure gauge that hooks directly to the schrader valve? If not, what's the fitting that i need for it? If i figure out this one problem that has been nagging me forever, it will prolong my patience with this car. haha. Thanks guys.

on a related note. I believe this is the fitting. I have to remove the schrader valve and install this, correct?

If the fuel pressure checks OK, then I would check the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). My 1990 5.0 LX convertible had a similar idling problem and that TPS was defective. It is easy to replace, and it was not that expensive. You will need to do the adjustment procedure which I am sure you can find searching on here. Good luck!

I ran the codes on my car while it was warmed up.
KOEO - pass
KOER - I only get 44 and 94.

Soon after that, the car, at idle, will slowly start dying out until the motor just completely quits. I open the schrader valve up and the gas only drips out. I have a FPG coming in the mail soon, so i'll know for sure if the fuel pressure is dying out during that time.

if you pop the schrader valve and hardly anything comes out, you pretty much figured out your issue.

i pop it only after the car dies. which makes me wonder if it burned the fuel currently in the system and stopped pumping more, or if the pump failed, causing it to die. etc.. but i'll make sure once my gauge gets here

if the car stalls out, the fuel pump should continue to pump for atleast 2 extra seconds... so it sounds like your pump is failing.

the FPG will be the tell-all

The fuel filter would also cause this problem, but I am assuming you have replaced that already. Definitely sounds like a fuel issue now. Good luck!

Update : FPG is installed. Get this : 25 PSI @ Idle, with and without the vacuum line attached. that's CRAP isn't it? What gives? bad pump or bad regulator?
