Aftermarket alarm question

Aftermarket alarm question
Hey! I bought an 89 5.0 awhile ago, unaware it had an alarm system. I recently had a clutch put in and when I got it back it would take just about 10 seconds to start my car, which it has never done. So, I brought it back to have it looked at, figuring they may have done something wrong, and they told me they somehow reset the alarm or somethin..I called the previous owner and he did not install it ( must have been the guy before him, which theres no way i can contact! )..ANYWAYS my question is How would I go about using the alarm system again? The shop said its all hooked up and everything.. I have no information on the alarm or any remote. Thanks for the help!

If someone wants to steal a fox mustang, an alarm system is not going to stop them.
I removed my aftermarket POS alarm system about 2 months after I got my car.
Cleaned up the engine bay nicely as there was a whole lot of garbage that gets installed with the alarm system, like the siren.

Yea, well I figured if there was an easy way to have it workin, then why the hell not? Im not worried about anybody stealing it, its actually being removed tomorrow!! Id like to meet a guy who wants to steal an 89 5 litre with 200,000 miles

i concur with removing it. alarm systems are nasty beasts, especially if they malfunction.
GM had a problem with its stock alarm systems in the early 2000's where the car wouldn't start at all, and thats with just a basic lock/unlock/trunk release type key fob. the entire system from ignition to keyfob had to be recalibrated.
save yourself some tow bills and frustration, scrap it.

Haha, it's funny you found an alarm in your 89. I found one in my 90 that I didnt know had it until I unplugged the battery then plugged it back in and heard the freakin siren and my door locks locked and lights started flashing. I wanted to get rid of mine but the box has sooo many wires going every which way that I could possibly cut a wire and eff things up bad. I did remove the siren though. On a side note I also found an amp under the passengers seat when I first cleaned my car after buying it.

wow, must be alot of mechanics on here.... I would never drive my car with out the alarm working, just getting ready to upgrade it in another month er two. The alarm that is in there now is actually the first alarm I was trained on when the car was new in 94 and never had an issue with it. If they are installed right you should not have any issues with them.
If you can get a little more info on the make/model I could help you out if you want it. I have seen people steal POS's and then the insurance co only wants to give you $200 for it.
