Default Rear end

I got a 1994 Mustang gt 5 spd. When i go around turns my rear end makes a clanking noise, something must be going bad. I was just wondering is it the pumpkin, the bushings, or would that just be the whole posi going bad?

well you dont have a posi. quit saying that you ahve a traction lok with is a limited slip diff. limited slips used clutches. posi uses springs

and youre rear is in despert need of maintenance or rebuilt

punkin is the name of the housing it cant go bad unless you scatter it which isnt happening
bushings are in the sockets at teh top of the rearend. this isnt your problem either

How much would it cost to get the rear end rebuilt?

depends on what you ahve done to it. a rebuild kit is like 50 bucks then you need someone to do it. then its better to upgrade all youre bearings. and if youre upgrading youre bearins might as well do a rear girdle

Would it be wise to get the gears done while the rear end is being rebuilt?

YEP, I'm getting ready to do gears and rebuild my whole rear end, it gets kinda pricey to go in and do a rebuild and then have someone take it all apart again to put in gears. So get the gears, the traction loc rebuild, master bearing kit and get er done all at once, that way it's all taken care of and you won't have to worry about it again.

mine does the same, its just the trac-loc. it wont hurt anything doing it so dont worry.. another issue it could be is the cross pin between the axles might be wore, giving you way too much endplay and letting the axles move but probably the trac-loc...

if that pin is wornd and youre axles are moving then eventually the clips will fall out and then your axle falls out

right, but they have to be pretty bad for that to happen. i think his problem still lies in the trac-loc.
