Default Need 5 spd tranny info

Ok so bought this car about a year ago and second is griding once in a while.
I think I want to replace/rebuild the tranny. The car was on a dyno putting down 290rwhp.

Should I
rebuild the T5 thats in it?
Will a tremec fit? if so what else would I have to change?
Is there a good after market I should look at?

I don't want to brake the bank on this, just want a good solid tranny for the street.

thanks

A t5 is plenty strong if you know how to properly shift it while driving spiritedly. one of the mods here runs 11s on a s/c 5.0 with a factory t5 and just recently put a clutch in after 130k miles i think, a crazy high milage for a stock clutch.

what do you think I should be paying a local shop to rebuild and reinstall a T5?
I see you can buy a new on on Jegs for $1200

A qualified tranny shop shouldn't charge more than 300+rebuild kit I wouldn't think.... t5s are all over the place and pretty simple pieces.

Thanks, they are the Saleen SC rims, not true Saleens, but better looking IMO.

well the $1200 one is an upgraded one its a T-5Z and has upgraded synchros and other goodies and handles about 65 ft/ib's more torque and has a steel bearing retainer. The gearing is a little different first gear is 2.95 instead of 3.35 so you get about 5 mph more out of first. 5th gear is different as well so you tach less on the highway I love mine
