Default Tuning?

i have a 95 5.0 and i just put 24lb injectors and a gt-40 intake on it. it runs like crap. extremely slow. when at idle it sounds like i have a big cam, which i don't. i think i have a small vaccume leak by the idleing sensor in the throttle body, would that cause the rough idle. i also took off the egr pump which i was told i dont need so for the sake of gettin this thing back together i left it off and plugged the lines. does anybody have any suggestions? what fuel pressure should i be at? do i have to reset the ecu?

check for a vaccum leak, but generally a vaccum leak unless really bad won't cause a rough idle, just erratic, sounds like you have a misfire present, check all secondary ign components, cap, rotor , plugs and wires

You changed the injectors but did you change the maf sensor as well?

starting with basics.... Did you switch to a calibrated MAF?
New or used?

How confident are you that you timed it properly? When I replaced me engine this past summer my car was running like garbage just like yours sounds like it is. I restabbed the dizzy and it was perfect.

Exactly... definately check the timing and coil because my 95 gt was barely off and the car ran terrible this past summer. Just like the other guys said You absolutely need a mass air flow sensor calibrated to 24. the 95's are tricky tho so have fun buddy.

Default ya this is fun...

well i changed my maf sensor and found out the last one was trashed so the car idles a lot better and it shakes a lot less so im assuming its the right one. I did pull the distributer without marking where it was timed at so i am fighting that. when i time it i can get the idle around 700 which seems right but the performance is sooo sluggish, but if i advance it it runs great from a dead stop but if i punch once im already moving performance still sucks and the idle is way to high like 1500 rpms... im at like 45psi on my fuel pressure is this about right and where should my timing be slow idle ****ty performance or fast idle and decent performance? i appreciate the help

You need to start from scratch on setting your timing and set it with a timing light. Be sure to pull the spout connector as well.

Why did you swap to 24lb injectors anyway?

There's a sticky by Adder on how to time your car properly... READ IT.

you still havent answered whether or not you changed the maf for the injectors. when you put in the injectors, did you change the maf? its a yes or no question.

second, timing is done with a light, not by guessing based on how it runs....or doesnt run in this case
