shaking during WOT above 4k RPMs PLEASE HELP!
#31
OK
i have an official update on the fox,
although i dont have any pics of the harmonic balancer ..
my grand NOOB hypothesis is that because my car has a cam and is modified, the harmonic balancer is set on the wrong degree..
REASON being...
i checked the hb, and it didnt wobble or look worn in any way i could see..
and the shaking begins so gradually with the rpms that the only thing that could cause this problem i could think of is a balancing issue.
and narrowing down the problems i assume its primarily the hb not the u joints because it will shake while parked if i bring the rpms to 4k..
not that the u joints may not be worn or need replaced they are 17 years old..
so with this said i need to know what degree the hb should be set to, and how to go about doing this...
AND could this be a timing issue as well? or just the timing on the HB...?

i looked at a new HB and it had degrees marked on it so i thought that you could change its position...
so since you cant, what should i do, replace it anyways and replace the u joints as well?
could this issue be caused by the cam in it?

A new harmonic balancer is always a good thing, I would just go ahead and replace it. But thats me.
I have a vibration in the upper RPM's but could never find the issue. Ive replaced just about everything on the car with my last project, So it might be fixed? but no way of telling what it actually was.
It wont be the u-joints if it is doing it when the car is stoped and the RPM's are brought up, because the driveshaft isn't even moving!
