Default need help with serpentine belt

I just put a motor in a 84 5.0 mustang. I removed the a/c. All of the a/c eliminator kits I have found are for 86-93 and they say conversion may needed for the kit to work on earlier models. What will i need for the kit to work on my 84 or is their something else I can do to complete the serpentine.

Can you post a pic of your serpentine setup?

He's just asking if the cylinder head and water pump have the same bolt holes/dimensions.

One of the A/C delete brackets is bolted to the cylinder head, and the other is bolted to the water pump.

Original poster... check to see if the water pumps and original heads are the same from 87-93 and 84. I'm not interested enough in pre 87 mustangs to do the research.

All of the dimensions are close or the same on the heads and water pump as far as I know. I know the water pump is the same as far as bolting up. The powerstearing and a/c bolts up the same on both. Im not sure if the ac/power stearing bracket is different.

Have you investigated leaving the power steering pump in the stock location instead of relocating it to the a/c location? I have never tried this so IDK if it will work, but it's very possible.

On my 95 motor, I had to move the a/c from the lower drivers side to the lower passenger side in the spot where the smog pump was. I was able to run a new belt without an adapter or a new idler pulley. I know that my serp setup is different than his but can he do the same sort of thing?

Yea I tried. If I run the belt closest to stock, the belt rubs on the water pump due to the power stearing low location. I can run the belt one other way but I would need a different tensioner pulley. The groved side of the belt would be on the tensioner pulley which is smooth. I cant find a groved tensioner pulley to make it work. The only option I know to do is buy one of those kits. Either to move to power stearing up or replace a/c with that a/c eliminator that is just a pulley that bolts to the a/c / power stearing bracket. Both kits are showing for 86-93. I just dont know what parts I need off of the 86-93 to make the kit work or if I could make it work without the parts.

JD. Don't buy one of those idler pulleys. It's a waste of money and clutters up the engine bay.

Have you tried reversing the way the belt goes on the crank/water pump pulley. I had to reverse mine when I deleted the smog pump.

The only parts that the a/c delete kit bolt to is the cylinder head and water pump. Like I said before if they are the same then you will be alright.

Be sure to maintain the right 'reverse' rotation on the waterpump.

Lay it out on paper... both combos spin the pump the same way. Nothing to worry about.
