Yeah so i took my alt off today and had it tested and of course the machine said it was fine.......of course it said it was fine, stupid machine only spins it to the equivalent of 2k rpms!!! it doesnt spike until a little over 3k on the tach!!!!
so its either pay 150 for a autozone alt of 50 at a junk yard, all just to find out if thats even the problem. ive started yanking stuff apart and im going to try and go through as much of the wiring under the hood as i can and just clean up all grounds and all connectors and hit up all necessaty plugs with some dielectric. ill get a junk yard alt this coming weekend and then finish up the wrok. if still having issues ill go throu the voltage drop test.
THanks Madmac for the link. im gonna print it off later and have it with me under the hood while im tryn that.
ill update on this later.

Let us know if you find anything. I am still diggin to. Does anyone know where all the ground locations throughout the whole vehicle is located?????? I am getting ready to tear into everything and find the source somehow!!!!!!!!
You can hear the fuel pump whine drop low and high when you turn on the turn signals also. It has to be a bad ground or connection somewhere????? Might have to take it back to the car wash and locate it that way. Funny way to try and trouble shoot!!!!!!!!!!

Well i havent had time to trouble shoot at all. i did bolt my alt back on and now the voltage is sitting down around 9 or 10 volts at idle and the battery light stays on at all times. Im hoping whatever it is will just completely go out as it always seems to be easier to trouble shoot when the problem gets huge rather than intermittent.
as always ill keep you guys updated when i get some more time to play with it. the fact that it isnt my daily driver and im pullin 6 days a week at work doesnt leave much time to t.s..

well pulled the altenator off of a wrecked 5.0 and bolted it on today. Yep, boys and girls, this whole time its just been the frickin altenator!!!! now all i have to do is decide if i should spray everything under the hood and see if anything crazy happens again or if it really was just a freaky timing of bad luck that it just happened to go out while i was sitting in the carwash............then again, maybe ill just stay out of the car washes!!!!!! lol
