i also had an 89 5.0 gt vert with flow and dumps and i was way rumbly. Like when you blow over the hole of a bottle and it makes a hum. Imagine a 15 gallon bottle. So, if you want it hella loud and deep, go for it. If you don't think you will be able to stand it, then don't. I would say to find someone you know with dumps and drive that car for a good hour.

i wanna put dumps on my car cause it has an old flowmaster cat-back on it thats just too mellow for me......are dumps really that much louder cause ur only deleting the tail pipe section? right? and what are the best mufflers to use with dumps?

If you want more sound get cut outs so you can choose if they are open or not much easier then changing from turndowns. Flowmaster doesn’t need anymore drone but if you don’t drive it often and want it to sound badass do it. Don't worry about the low end 5.0s have plenty. I have my loudmouth 2 dumped over the axle. (I’m lazy and didn’t feel like fixing my tailpipe so I took them off.) I honestly felt some increase in power higher in RPM but it’s probably in my mind just because it is louder.

Yeah, it's louder cuz the outlet is right under your seat and the sound is reflecting off the ground as opposed to hearing them out the back. When I put my tailpipes back on, it was go much quiter. It felt as if I put my stock exhaust back on. But that's only cuz I was used to it being so frikkin loud.

you will lose low end with dumps on a stock motor and stock gears. for a built up motor with gears its not all that big of an issue. tail pipes also help smooth out the power band some where as dumps help top end out

but flows with dumps are just nirvana but the drone is a killer

i think dumps on a gt aren't a bad idea. i have them and like 'em.

it makes for a cheap exhaust system....
