Lightbulb Removing smog pump to gain horsepower

I am rebuilding my 95 GT 5.0 convertible. I'd like to remove the smog pump to gain the added horsepower, but I'm worried about how the computer might react. Can I remove the smog system from the stock 5.0 without having computer issues??

Default what about.....??

What about the vacuum lines and the smog lines going into the head and stuff? Should I just manufacture plates to cover the places the smog line goes into the motor and cap off the vacuum lines for the smog pump?

cap off vaccum lines and a 5/8 -11 bolts screw into rear of the heads IIRC

thanks guys. Hopefully, this works out ok. I did the same thing to a past camaro project car, and the computer went nuts on me. The buzzer wouldn't shut up because the computer was no longer getting readings from the smog sensors.

5.0s dont have any sensors on the smog pump or the cats. if you ditch the pump, be sure your not running cats.

^^^nope, to reduce emissions.............tons of mustangs out there with off road h-pipes and no back pressure issues/ power loss, reduce back pressure/restrictions = gain power
