when i got my new bushings it said to take a drill with i think a 3/8ths bit and drill out the old bushing close to the housing.do that all the way around the bushing.it really just falls apart.and the new ones just slid right in for me.

I just replaced mine a few days ago...I had the axle removed from the car anyway because of a gears I was having installed/ control arm upgrade.

I drilled the rubber using a 3/8 dia drill in several places then simple pulled out wehat was left with a set of pliers. My new Poly bushings said to reuse the metal shells from the original bushings so they do not need to be removed...just the inner sleeve and then the rubber surrounding it need to be removed & discarded.

After I removed the rubber , I smoothed out the inside of the axle bushing shell with a wire wheel on a drill. If your replacing with poly bushings like I did, apply ample lube from the supplied bushing kit and install.

Just keep in mind my axle was removed. I know they make a tool to remove the bushings when the axle is still on the car, but I have never used one so I can't have an opinion on that.

i never needed the tool to install or to take mine out.just read your directions that come with your new bushings and you will be fine.i also did mine with the axle in the car and it was a piece of cake.

I just installed Prothanes when I did control arms. Here is a good write up about how to do this.
