there's this guy that comes around my shop needing stuff welded all the time. recently he brought in a complete aluminum bar stool that he told me he made and needed me to welded it together. i was bull ****ing with him when he told me he was a mill-right. he made me an offer to make me some aluminum pistons because i was telling him that i wanted to rebuild my engine in the 89. all he said he wanted was a case of beer. if i task this guy to do it what dimensions should i give him for my stock 302 ho. what mod's would i have to make to enable me to use aluminum pistons or is there anything else that i could get him to make for me while he is doing the pistons?
he is full of it..it take special cnc machines and dead on speces for a piston...the machine required to do this cost a ton of cash...
But for a case of beer, what loss is that?
I wouldn't get aluminum pistons in the first place. Your stock pistons are stonger than the aluminum. And if you ever plan to add power later on...then the pistons will give you problems.
stock pistons are aluminum. some forged, some hypereutectic.
Yup.......but what I am saying is he probably can go about making them....but if he is just going to cnc them out of a block or do whatever he is doing, they might not be as strong as stock....there are other fabrication processes that create the strength needed for an engine.
Just get him the case of beer, have him make the pistons, and post some pics. You ain't losin much even if they are crap, you can sell them on Ebay, lol you can sell anything on there.
