I looked at a mustang today and when i poped the hood and reved it alittle the engine "whined" and it was like u couldn't tell the engine reved down (dont think that matters but). What could the "whinning" noise be and is it bad?? It isn't very loud and u can only hear it when ur close to the engine.

dunno.. my friends 85 carbd engine sounds like it has an eaton s/c on it tho haha .. It could be your serpentine belt. when the last time you put a new one on it ?

Throw out bearing will cause it to whine. If it is not the belt.

likely power steering pump, or maybe the idler pulley, mine make a whine.
