Default HELP PLEASE

So i have just completed my rebuild on my 302. it was stock when i tore it down. i rebuilt it using the stock block, gt40 heads, e303 cam, stock rollers, and gt40 tubular upper and lower manifold and 28 lb injectors. now to the problem... the car will crank over, and run if i give it gas, but as soon as i get off the gas pedal, or try to move it, it shuts off right away. i have no clue what the problem could be. could it be that i didnt adjust my valves and rollers correctly? the timing is at top dead center and its all new plugs and wires with a stock distributor but i replaced the cap and rotor. if ANYONE could help me out here, it would be greatly appriciated. i just turned 17 the other day, and im itching to drive it. and dnt leave any comment saying that i will ruin my car. im not an average, ***** to the wall 17 year old kid, looking to spin his tires next to granny in her buick century. i plan on babying this car, since it is all out of my pocket. any help would be great. thank you!

Cody

Where in mass are you? If you're near me, I'll take a look at it.

absolutely, 10 pounds off and it wont even run

you want to be on TDC of the COMPRESSION stroke. if your unsure you stabbed the dizzy right, pull the plugs, rotate it to just b4 10-0-10 , put your finger on the #1 hole and then bump it over..... if it is compression... it will go "phsssst" so then you can MANUALLY rotate it 360 and then 360 and stop on "0"

thats tdc of the compression stroke, at that point you can do #1 int and ex + #4 int #3 ex #8 int #7 ex find zero lash (rotate pushrod with fingers til it wont go while tightening rocker) then hit it to 20 lbs. you can can only be in the range of a 1/4 turn to 1 turn on the 20 lbs. anything diff and you need diff pushrods.

did you do it that way ?

i did not. this is my first rebuild and i just put them all on to 20 lbs without rotation or checking the lash. i would have had my father help me but it is very hard do to the fact tht he is in and out of the hospital so much. i will take it apart and try that this weekend! thank you so much. its of great reassurance that the car isnt FUBAR. haha thank you.
