Default 1993 Mustang Rear Drum Brakes

I am installing a new set of brake shoes on my mustang. Problem is with the new shoes installed, the drum will not go on properly. The adjustment bar is all the way in, and everything is installed firmly in its spot. The E-brake cable seems to work properly and is not interupting the installation. I double/triple checked the old shoes against the new to insure they are the correct ones. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

The star-wheel actuator needs to be as short as possible. Are you sure that its not seized? And is the parking brake strut (the bar with the spring on) is installed correctly?

Pics might help us.

The star wheel actuator is shortened up as much as it can be and the parking brake strut is installed correctly. For some reason it will not let me attach a photo? Will keep trying.

You are using the right size shoes right?, as i believe there is 9" and 10" rear shoes for our Mustangs.

I got her figured out, I installed the adjustment rod incorrectly. Now everything is good with the install. Just one more question, are these self adjusting? After the install I bled the brakes and took it out for a test drive. In reverse, it seemed as if they were working themselves into place but going forward seemed like only the fronts were working.

they are not self adjusting. you want to spin the adjuster so that you have just enough tension to stop the wheel after 1 rotation, free spinning off the ground.
