My smog pump makes a squeaking shrill noise at times and i've heard you can just gut them .Has anyone done this and can it be done with smpg pump still installed on vehicle?

if you live around Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro or any other inspection crazy city, it's time for a new pump.

I'm in the sticks.....no pump and a shorter belt...BWAHAHAHAHA!

You don't need smog pump unless it's a Cali car...Or so I was told. I just passed AZ emissions without it. My pollutant levels were super low. Even the tester was surprised.

Seph, NC will fail you for not having the under-hood smog equipment, even if you pass the tailpipe sniffer I have no pump and no EGR...just a resistor plugged in to fool the CEL and ECM.



....and I got friends that work for inspection stations!

What size resistor (how many ohms) are you using in order for that to work? Im wanting to get the smog pump eliminator get rid of mine as well.

Nemesis, it's a plug in resistor from http://rjminjectiontech.com/?p=9. The CEL hasn't lit up since I installed it. The ECM will still throw an EGR code, but I haven't had any drivability issues.
