Question Serious Help Needed !

I have a 1997 mustang it used to be a v6 but i swapped it the the 5.0 v8 and ran the new wiring harness and everything
I tore the motor down to the block and rebuilt the entire motor i kept everything stock except i did the following upgrades
E303 cam
gt40 heads
cobra intake
70 mm throttle body
new plug wires
Underdrive pulley kit
373 gears in the rear

NOW WHAT I NEED HELP WITH (ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY)

When i first start it up until the motor gets hot when i give it gas it like backfires up through the intake and makes popping noises and second its lacking a lot of power even when its warmed up and been driving for a while i mean i can only chirp second i would think with those upgrades i would be able to spin first second chirp 3rd something like that

Let me know what you think or what could be wrong cause im going crazy trying t0 figure out what it is i think with those upgrades spinning tires wouldnt be a problem but im lucky if when i step on it in first if the tires chirp or spin it just goes its like my v6 was

dear god... did you stab the dizzy correcty? how did you set the timing? the spout is a little gray connector that it attached to the dizzy wiring. there are 2 wires that go to the plug. when you set the base timing you have to remove this 'spout' otherwise the timing will be all screwed up.

it def sounds like you need to either restab you dizzy or correctly set your timing

set your base timing without the spout in, the spout is a little piece of plastic inline with one of the wires off of the distributor, it disables the advance so you can set the base timing, I would set it at 10 degree's (many people here will disagree) and maybe work your way up, some guys run the timing up around 18 degree's, my car like 13 degrees and I run 93 (agian something they disagree with on here), as far as the base timing you want your mark on the crank to line up with the top pointer on your stock timing scale(doohiky on the block)

like they said, timing/stabbin problem, or maybe check your ignition coil as this can cause problems like you described. you may need a tune as well

seeing as he said he has been setting the timing with the spout in, im going to have to say thats his problem.

also in no way does he need a custom tune for his setup. if you want to 'tune' it get an hour on the dyno with a wideband and adjust the fuel pressure and timing.
