Default clutch flywheel ????

Hi all, I'm putting together a s/c 1993 coupe with a 306 and tremec. just wonder on what clutch or flywheel to use? I have a centerforce and aluminum flywheel in my vert and it gave out with less then a 1000 miles on it. I haven't taken it a part to see what caused it to fail. The coupe is more street and strip car. so it will see track and slicks. any suggestion would be appreciated.

Did you break the clutch in for 500 miles?

yes, I drove it for the first 500 or so miles around town, a lot of stop and go never dumping the clutch. After I did start getting on it hard, but it is a basically stock car besides some bolt on parts and gears.

speculation.... my favorite form of diagnostic mechanics....

instead of asking people who CANT look at the car, why don't you pull it out and take pictures...

well the original question at hand wasn't about the vert. It was about the coupe I'm putting together now. Just wondering what other people are running on a supercharged car. It also had a centerforce clutch and when I took that a part some of the kevlar had chunks missing. So just look for better set up to handle power.

the CF DF should hold up for everything you have. i have run a simple motorsport HD and launch on spray and never destroyed it

I was asking because pretty much EVERYONE I've ever encountered that had a CF clutch fail prematurely(or any other clutch for that matter), had it fail due to abuse before breaking it in completely. Usually WOT runs. If that's the case then it really doesn't matter who suggests what clutch as the OP is likely to destroy it as well. It seemed like he was asking what clutch/flywheel OTHER than CF to run, but many of us here run CF stuff and abuse the crap out of it and don't have failures. I just wanted to eliminate the driver as a source of problems before trying to determine what mechanical problem may or may not exist with the car.

I'm going to take pics of CF I pulled off s/c notch and post. I will also post pics of vert clutch when i get around to pulling that apart. I agree most times its OP fault thats clutches go. I been driving stick for almost 20 years and had 12 tow trucks plus daily driver i beat the crap out of and only replace one clutch, which was in the vert due to the fact i blew 3rd gear. but when i put new clutch in it was about 5 years ago and then parked car due to family duties, baby, house etc.. now i pulled it back out and the clutch is failing i never drove it hard due to the fact i was in the middle of a front end swap and never finished it and it didn't have a alignment, which it still doesn't so i just drove around town on short trips. and a few people around here run ram clutches. I will post pics of notch build too.
