High Idle Problem

High Idle Problem
I recently installed a '99 Explorer intake on my 5.0 and I now have an idle problem. After hard excelleration it will not come back down to an idle, it stays around 2k rpm. I can unplug the IAC and it will idle back down to normal, but when I plug it back in it jumps back up to 2k. I have replaced the IAC assembly, I installed a new computer, I installed a new throttle body, and I have a spacer block between the IAC and throttle body for more precise idle adjustment, but I still have the same problem. Anyone ever have this type of problem or have any tips?

i have the same problem and have been trying to fix it for a while now. i found the vacuum line to the MAP sensor was sucking flat at idle, and now that i fixed that the problem seems to have went away. what year is your 5.0. if its not a MAF car look at the map sensor vacuum line. check for vacuum leaks around the intake, TB, and spacer.

Check to see if the spring under ur throttle body(it makes the throttle door open and shut) is hitting the valve covers...that gave me a HIGH idle cuz the throttle was stuck semi-open from rubbing on the covers. Check that.

RE: High Idle Problem
well, i thought my problem was fixed, on the way back from the bar tonight it did it again after racing some kid in a mazda, oh well, i guess i will be on the search again. by the way, my driveability got alot better after cleaning the S&P shakers but it didnt help the idle. these old EFIs are just very sensitive, any little thing can make them go nuts.
