Default Electrical Problems, please help

I recently put a new battery into my 95 cobra (within the past month) because the old one died. I then continued to experience a large drain on the electrical system while I was driving. The needle on the volt gauge was deflected way to the left and the lights would dim when they were on. I took the car in to a mechanic and he put in a new alternator. It is a 220amp alternator to replace the stock 130amp. I continued to experience a drain in the electrical system and so I had all the circuits checked for shorts and none could be found. I am at a loss here and not sure how to proceed. I appreciate any help.

Obviously not all the circuits were checked.

Honestly, find a better mechanic.

I agree with Pro50SC. If you have a power drain, throwing on an expensive 220A alternater is not the answer.

Start by taking it to Autozone, and let them put it on the starting/charging tester. I say that because they'll do it for free.

If that checks out OK, find a better mechanic.

I took the car in to Autozone, today, per your recommendation .boB and when they tested it the battery was charged to 20% after having been put on a charger only 5 days ago but the tester claimed the battery was good. I'm not sure if I should call the battery company up and request a replacement under the warranty or if I should find another mechanic to look at it first like PRO50SC and .boB have said.

Good, they tested the battery. Did they also test the charging system? If not, that would be the next step, because it sounds like that's the real problem. WIth a new alternater and a new battery, then the voltage regulater is suspect.

Of course, it could be something simple like a bad ground. So make sure you inspect all your connections. Pull the insulation back a little on the battery cables. Sometimes you'll get corrosion up under the insulation that you can't see. Not common in AZ, but it happens.
