Question AOD help

So I think my governor is going bad. I'll start with the issue.

1. very slow to shift and sometimes it shifts to early
2. it feels as though it does not have enough line pressure

Heres what I have done to the tranny: transgo valve body, input shaft, 10"2500 stall, new kevlar bands. I have spoken to 2 transmission shops and told them about my issue they recommended to replace the governor. do you think thats what the problem is?, or do you think its the pressure?, if its the pressure then how do I check that and fix it?

Please help

U used the transgo shift kit?

the slow shifting and shifting early is normal for
AOD`s that i have seen, unless u manual shift the car.

i cant break out the exact procedure right now at 245am but later today before i go to work i can find it in my aode overhaul manual and try and get it to you.

I've got a TCI tranny in mine doing the same thing. I need to bring it to the tranny shop in the spring to see what's up with it.

try adding some line pressure, not a lot, just a little, I did that with my old aod, every quarter inch was a 100 rpm increase in shift point and made a great difference in the feel, after about a half an inch had that bad boy shifting like a drag car, don't over do it though.

Yea i will have to try adding more line pressure. I have done the youtube line adjustment where you make sure there's no slack but I will have to try the other one where you floor it mark it then let go and mark. arghhh. it use to shift like a pro but now its holding back.

just increase it slightly, I wish i could find the article i used (1991 issue of mustang monthly) make sure that if you still have the plastic bushing you're extremely careful with that thing, mark where it is now (white out or whatever) so if it gets worse (or your hands slip) you can reset it. Like i said i had my aod rebuilt with the full transgo setup and mine would break the tires loose on the second gear shift. this will cause the later shift and overdrive won't kick in as easy (not a bad thing in my book)
