Hi,
i have a pretty unique problem. While driving, the car will occasionaly just shut off. Just like someone turned off the key.The stereo and basically everything on the keyed switch just stops. Then it will come right back on. I have replaced, at the recommendation of a good mechanic, the EEC power relay. This didn't do it. The headlight, dashlights, and anything not on the key doesn't shut down.It doesn't seem to be temp. related or anything else that i can readily trace it to.Sometimes it just flickers and the radio is the only noticable problem.Then sometimes it will stop for 10-15 seconds and come right back on.Funny thing is, it might go a week and not do it once.Being a mustang newbie, is this something that is a common problem?By the way it's an '87 gt 5speed.

does it just happen when you just start it up? my engine will stall if you dont rev it and warm it up for a minute or two before you start driving.

It only seems to do it while driving down the road.It doesn't stumble or act like a rough running condition.The power just goes out.The radio shuts off, the amp guage goes to zero, just like you turn the key off. Then it comes right back on.I thought it might be a ground cable, but the headlights and dashlights don't go out. Just the items that are "keyed".
