yes your losing power beleive it or not, look back about 2yrs in 5.0 mustang. it has a purple saleen on the front they did a shoot out if thats the article. it made some topend power but not as much as one with mufflers
also your exhaust is 2.5 to 2.25, that isnt helping either
also not all drag cars run open exhaust, i know a few full exhaust cars running 11s and 10s with full exhaust and soem flowmasters on them
also drag cars dont operate at low rpms. they usually have stalls around 4k or higher so low end isnt needed. but for teh street it is

the mind will make you think you gained power to help justify the money spent....its normal and you probably did see gain with the headers/hpipe but those straight pipes arent good for performance

Personally, I would go with 1 5/8" Mac Equal Lenght Headers, with MAC H-Pipe combined with a sweety (but costy) Borla XR-1 Catback System. It's not the cheapeast system you can buy, but you'll surely get a sound that's deeper than KB Cobras and damn louder than any standard Mustang.
