Unhappy Unknown problems

I am experiencing problems that feel like my TPS is going bad. I just replaced the TPS, only to find out that it wasn't the problem. The car sputters at acceleration, and dies routinely. Can someone please help get this pony up before I give into it?

I don't have any mods on it and it has been doing it for about a week. It also backfires, which leads me to believe that it is an ignition problem. It only has the problem when it is cold too. After the engine gets warm, then no problem.

Fuel injectors maybe? try running some STP fuel system cleaner in the tank next time you fill up. Its on like $4. or some sea foam if you prefer, that stuff works wonders. Spark plugs is a possibility too. When was the last time those were checked or changed?

Often, the first step in diagnosis is to pull codes from the computer. If you had done that first, you would probably not have seen the TPS in the fault list, thus saving you the cost of that part. The moral of the story is don't replace parts without evidence that the part in question is at fault.

Sometimes, the codes will tell you what the problem is NOT so you can focus on other things.

Do a search on pulling codes and report back your findings.

Good luck.

Look at this as a learning opportunity. More knowledge is always better.

A typical issue with these 5.0L engines is a dirty MAF. Clean the (exposed) wires with the special spray.

My 2nd guess would be a bad crank position sensor.
