Ideas here?
You likely just didn't have enough air moving across the condenser to make the A/C function properly. Unless it starts to do it on a regular basis I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the info. When I say it didn't blow cold, I mean it was hot, damp air. I rolled the windows down on a 90+ day to cool off.

I think it was an isolated issue, and is not a big concern right now. I can cool down, I was more worried about the Coupe staying cool!

I think the fan clutch and proper pulley and then look at possibly a new gauge and I should be all set.

Thanks again!

id put a 180 t stat in it and put a mechanical gauge in it to make sure the exact temp.im sure someone will chime in on this but i believe with a 160 t stat that the car will actually run hot with them in.i run a 180 t stat and i can drive it on 90+ degree days and not have to turn my fans at all unless i have to set at a stop light.water temp stays at 185

HA HA HA!

I think I got it licked!

It was only 81 out today, so I have to take that into account, but I found a set of pulleys on CL for $5 a pop and got the water pump and the crank. The alternator can stay where it is.

I even spent a couple hours de-greasing and painting them. They looked great! I put those on and replaced the (yes, it was BAD) fan clutch and everything seems great!

I let it idle for 35 minutes with the A/C on while talking to some guys that asked if it was for sale (that happens a lot with coupes, huh?) and it hardly got any warmer. I shot it with the laser and it read 181 at the thermostat housing. Actually the laser said 162-181 depending on exactly where I hit it...mostly the 160's.

I still have to change the t-stat to a 180 piece as many of you recommended, but I can do that next weekend.

Thanks again to all for the info and help! You guys rock!
