what letter do i looka t? which vin number? and cna you identify the differnt letters for me?

It wont be in the VIN. That will only tell you if its a coupe or convert, the engine type, and model year. It might be on the door sticker or a tag attached to the diff case as someone else stated.

so should i get the tag number off o he rer end and run it through with the dealer? and they can tell me what gears i have?

it will be on the differential cover and for 2 73s it will say 2L73 on it some where and prolly some what similar for 308s and etc
