Yeah, it sounds like a PCM limp mode strategy. Ford's 8 coil 4 cylinder does the same thing when the cam sensor goes out.

matt, does that pickup sensor come with in a distrib when you buy it new? would replace whole thing if that is the case

Yes it should, but that's quite a purchase to justify for a small sensor. Really not complicated at all to replace. There's a tech article around here somewhere where AdderMk2 shows how to disassemble and re-stab it.

new dizzy from summit is arriving today, should be able to get it in and see what happens! I hope this solves the issue because I am running out of ideas and patience with this..

well got the new dizzy in, still cold on the driver side (8 and 5)... matt mentioned a limp mode by the computer? is it possible it needs to be reset? im really unsure of what i need to look at next on this so any help is great

Gonna need to see if you have injector pulses on any of the dead cylinders. That will help narrow down. Go see if you can rent this: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=948078_0_0_

should be able to od that today. also my check engine light finally came on after trying to run for a bit so ill try and get a code reader on it as well. thanks for stickin with this thread matt, tryin not to let this car beat me hahah

noid light flashed as the car was started and continued flashing (5 and 8). havnt been able to pull the trouble codes need a 400$ deposit to rent the tool.
