Well, if any of you could point me to a thread/website/whatever that details removing an AOD transmission from a 5.0, I might give it a shot. Tomorrow i'm going to tighten up all the bolts around the seals/gaskets that are leaking (the mechanic didnt tell me if they were broken or just loose, he only pointed out the ones that were leaking, they wont put a wrench to it unless they're on the clock). Also, do you know which (if any) seals are cork ('91 5.0)?

-Ben

(btw, I found an '86 5.0 HO at a junkyard today, rebuilt, complete for 700USD w/o transmission. Out of a T-Bird. I might get that and build it up over the next few months while I drive this one to death. Just a thought...)

well over tighten gaskets makes them leak mostly in cork gaskets....don't use these as they soak up fluid and leak over time....

Well... put her up on stands today to see the leaks for myself. Man i'm glad I didnt let Ford fix it, bastards were full of it. The pan gasket is fine, rear main looks good, and the front main MIGHT have a small break. What I did find was that the oil filter was loose (which would explain oil only being on drivers side) and some other seal is broken, not sure what it is yet, but it looks easily repairable.

$1600 GG..

H.O. in a T-Bird? Stock ones arent H.O. so if its not a transplant I wouldnt think so.

Thats what the peice of paper stuck to the side said, and it had a 5.0 HO tag on the intake. It looks in good shape though, but so did mine until I took it across state. I'm not even going to worry about the leaking until winter is over; besides that, i'm totally flat broke. I hope it was only that oil filter though, but I doubt it.

defeated,
Ben.
