Got my first 5.0, has a few problems.
This is actually my first car, always had trucks.
The tach on it stays at 4k when its idling. (idles fine!) the speedo does nothing at all. the temp gauge works, gas hand works, all dash lights work when need be oil pressure even works. just the speedo and the tach acts up.
Where should i start?

The tach is controlled by a circuit to the negative lead of the coil, which also splices out to the ECM at pin #4, Dark Green/Yellow wire. Somewhere inbetween the coil and the ECM there should be an ignition suppression resistor(E9DB-14A601-FA). Check it and the wiring.
The speedo is pretty simple. On the drivers side of the transmission you should see something like this:
Undo it from the trans and check the gear on the end of it, and the one it meshes with inside the trans. They're plastic and strip easily. Also check that the cable spins freely. If you hook a drill to it and spin it you should be able to move the speedo.
