i just recently bought a new alt. for my 91 lx and it seemed to do fine till last night. went to autozone where i purchased it and got a new 80amp alt. and replaced the battery. me and one of the guys there hooked it up to make sure it was making 14volts, it was only making 12.7 volts. i replaced the lower wiring harness that connects to the alt. and still 12.7 volts. i have also checked for lose connects there seems to be none. does anyone know what could possibly be the problem?

you have a small alt on the car the stock is 95 you need upgrade to at least a 130

 

would you suggest the powermaster one or another brand?

 

I had to replace my alt also a few days ago.. Thw first one I bought from autozone was defective and I at first thought I had a short or something else. Turns out it was just a bad alternator so I took it back and got another one.. Everything seems fine now

 

yea this is the second one. the first one i bought was last saturday and then i took it back today and got a new one still didn't help me.
