I have an 1989 GT and am replacing the rack because the old one leaked like a sieve. Getting it off was the easy part. Trying to get it back on is where I am stuck. There are two pinch 'pins' extending out from the k-frame and I can not seem to be able to get the rack up and over these pinch 'pins'.

My question. Do I just get a vice-grip on the pinch pins and attempt to remove them? and then install the rack, shoving the 'pins' back in later? or is there a simpler way.

Unfortunately, I am on my back under the car, so any range of motion is limited to the 2 feet of space I have to work with.
