I recently found this sensor melted onto my header. It has a vaccum line that goes to the throttle body, and another vaccum line that use to go to my egr until i removed the egr and just plugged the line. The vaccum lines go right into this sensor, then the sensor has a harness that goes inside my fender. any help will be appreciated

Did it look like a small round can with vacuum lines across the top and a few wires on the bottom? If so its probly the purge valve going to the charcoal canister . When enough vapors collect in the canister it opens and allows them to purge into the throttle body to be used in combustion.

 

this is a random photo i found online, but its is the red vaccum line with a black 90 degree boot that goes into the top of throttle body, then travels down the side of engine(over valve cover in the convelute) into a round style sensor

 

my bad, not top of throttle body, but the upper intake neck.

 

I believe thats the diverter valve your talking about , has to do with the smog junk.
